Jessica Peters

Contaminated Sites Environmental Scientist

Jess is one of ESG's contaminated sites leaders. She has a background in northern hydrology research and has always had an interest in water and water sciences.

Jess conducted her Master's research on remote, uninhabited, Melville Island, Nunavut with Queen's University. She has been working as an Environmental Scientist since 2017, and joined ESG in 2019.

Jess began field work and research in 2014 where she spent two summers exploring the tundra collecting water samples in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Her current work includes all aspects of the project life cycles such as project design, management, execution of Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments and Human and Ecological Health Risk Assessments, and contaminated sites management plans. Jess's work is also often used to advance contaminated sites through the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP) process.

Her fieldwork includes groundwater sampling from monitoring wells (and overseeing drilling), soil sampling , and surface water and sediment sampling from various surface water bodies in a variety of environments. Jess enjoys the balance of field work and the work from home life her position provides her, allowing her to spend time with both her wonderful human coworkers, and adorable fuzzy pet colleagues at home.
