
Courtney is a research biologist and GIS Technician with over 5 years experience in the environmental field. She graduated with a B.Sc. in Ecological Restoration from Trent University and an M.Sc. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Toronto.
Courtney provides expertise on many kinds of projects: species at risk (SAR) management plans, Ecological Land Classification (ELC) data collection, groundwater and surface water contaminant monitoring, benthic sampling, and GIS data management and cartography. She has a strong background in environmental assessment protocols and techniques, report writing, SAR monitoring, and is proficient in ESRI ArcGIS. Courtney has experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders, including Department of National Defence (DND), conservation agencies, students, volunteers, and the general public. She has developed projects from conception to final reporting including background review, permitting, in-field assessments, health and safety practices, data management, technical report writing, and providing input for mitigation measures. These project development skills have specifically been applied to two projects she is passionate and experienced in: SAR turtle monitoring and Ecological Land Classification (ELC). Outside of work, Courtney enjoys photography, camping, and scanning the shoreline for basking frogs and turtles.
